Amélie Barrette

Amélie Barrette, also known as Nou Noune, is an emerging multidisciplinary artist based in Montréal. A recent graduate of the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema at Concordia University, they specialize in documentary filmmaking and work across directing and editing. Their first short film, Fermé Définitivement, was selected for Radio-Canada’s Soirée de la
relève at the RIDM in 2018. They later directed Le Château endormi (currently in distribution), which marked the beginning of their collaboration with their partner Laurence Wells. Together, they are developing simUlator, an immersive work exploring gender identities through video game avatars. Amélie is also pursuing studies in Computation Arts at Concordia University.
