Ada X is looking for a web developer to create the HTMlles festival 2024 website.

Who are we? Ada X is a bilingual feminist artist-run center dedicated to exploration, creation and critical thinking in media arts and digital culture. We support the production and dissemination of work by women, trans, non-binary and queer artists.
HTMlles is a festival in media arts and digital culture that brings together local, national and international artists, scholars, and activists who are passionate about critical engagement with new technologies from feminist perspectives. Each edition explores urgent socio-political questions through a series of exhibitions, round tables, conferences, performances and workshops.
The center operates in a horizontal management mode and encourages collaborative work among its team. Projects are carried out in committees where everyone can contribute according to their skills and interests. Thus, the supervision and support of the web developer can be provided by different members of the team as needed, in addition to project collaborators such as Koumbit, the web hosting company, which provides technical support upon request. The center uses online platforms to facilitate collaborative work that the web developer will be trained in.
Description
Reporting to the Mediation and digital development coordinator, and in collaboration with the center’s team, the web developer will be responsible for developing the new WordPress theme for the HTMlles festival website, integrating the design created by the graphic designer. They will also be responsible for archiving the theme and content associated with the previous version of the festival, and may be called upon to integrate content from the upcoming edition of the festival with the team.
Tasks :
- determine and document the requirements for the HTMlles Festival website, based on the mock-ups and content designed by the team and the graphic designer;
- assist in the development of the platform architecture and determine software requirements;
- organize information for integration, and design the website’s appearance, layout and data flows;
- program animations according to predefined website specifications;
- write, modify, integrate and test software code for the website;
- design and optimize the site according to current ergonomic and accessibility standards;
- test and carry out quality and security checks;
Requirements / skills required :
- University or college education relevant to the contract;
- Expertise in WordPress; ;
- Knowledge of Web programming langages ;
- Knowledge of image editing software an asset;
- Knowledge of best practices in user experience;
- Bilinguilism (French/English);
- Attention to detail;
- Ability to work alone and as part of a team;
- An interest in contemporary, digital, and feminist art an asset.
