Through this training, Studio XX offers artists to work the basics of programming in a fun way. The relevance to know the basics of programming languages – via the open source software PROCESSING – is to give the artists the means to leverage that knowledge in any programming environment or logical practice: they will acquire the basics of algorithmic thinking and will play in creative ways.

This workshop is intended for beginners and based on a theoretical part and a mentoring part.

Workshop sequences (can depend of time available and interests of the participants):

1. Installing Processing. To “move” variables: fist shapes on screen

2. Models of control and loops (if, for, while): let’s automatically generate shapes. Complex shapes, vertices and curves: some simple mathematics

3. Color basics. Random algorithm.

4. Work with the time: the production of a continuous pattern in real time

5. Let’s move around: loops, motion and arrays

6. Interact with the mouse input and the keyboard input

7. Process of photographs in real time: image processing

*Minimum 8 participants. Price will be adjusted if this minimum is not reached.
