Real-time 3D environments offer diverse possibilities for engaging and immersing viewers in virtual worlds. This project-driven workshop studio explores immersive practices using Unreal Engine 5, with participants developing individual projects supported by targeted demos and one-on-one guidance.

Building on real-time 3D principles, this participant-centered workshop supports diverse approaches to immersive project creation. Participants might explore real-time simulation, procedural generation, 360° media, microcontroller integration, or other immersive techniques depending on their creative goals. The instructor will provide focused demonstrations and technical support tailored to each participant’s intentions.

By the end of the workshop, participants will have developed a personalized immersive project that reflects their artistic vision and technical interests. Projects will be experienced and discussed collectively, with opportunities for peer feedback and further development planning.

Throughout the workshop, discussions will be grounded in examples from contemporary art and expanded cinema, helping participants contextualize their work within broader immersive media practices.

Prerequisites

  • Be an artist, creator or professional cultural worker
  • Commit to being present at all stages of the workshop
  • Intermediate 3D skills recommended: Blender, Unity, Unreal Engine, or similar

Day 1 – 30 May | 12h – 16h @ World Creation Studio – The first session focuses on project conceptualization and technical preparation. Participants will explore project possibilities and define their creative goals through guided discussion and examples from contemporary immersive media. The instructor will provide a comprehensive review of UE5 capacities and workflows relevant to immersive project development, covering setup procedures, navigation, and core functionality. Participants will assess technical requirements for their chosen directions and begin initial project planning.

Day 2 – 6 June | 12h – 16h @ World Creation Studio – The second session centers on project development with focused demonstrations addressing common participant needs. The instructor will provide targeted technical support through group demos covering techniques relevant to multiple participants—such as 360° media integration, procedural generation workflows, microcontroller setup, or other shared interests identified from Day 1. Participants will share progress, participate in collaborative problem-solving, and receive guidance on advanced approaches.

Individual/Small-Group Support | 3-10 June | @ Ada X (or online) – Individual and small-group support sessions provide personalized technical guidance tailored to each participant’s project requirements. One-on-one and small group meetings address specific technical challenges, with scheduling coordinated based on participant availability.
