Felicia Rojas-Roy

My name is Felicia Rojas-Roy, I am a Tiohtià:ke-based fiber and installation artist. My identity and practice have been shaped by my upbringing with a Peruvian father and a Belgian Canadian mother. My work enables multisensory encounters with the arts. I primarily use textiles for their familiarity and intrinsic tie to the day-to-day. I aim to create intimate spaces where people feel safe to address sometimes uncomfortable subjects, fostering conversation and challenging what it means to be comfortable as an audience. My work is centered on decolonization, revolutionary joy, anti-surveillance, identity, and community. It stems from personal experiences that extend outwards.
They received the Fibres & Material Practices Ada X Award. They are new to media/digital art but they are excited to learn and share.
