residency projects

Deadline: Thursday, May 16th, 23h59 (Montreal, ET) 2024

Do you require resources to develop a media arts project? Submit a project proposal for Ada X’s residency program! You could be selected to participate in a 8 week production residency at Ada X between September 2024 and June 2025. This call is only open to artists who live in the Tiohtià:ke/ Montreal area.

Ada X is a bilingual feminist-artist-run centre for media arts and digital culture. The centre supports independent women, trans, non-binary, and queer artists in the production and dissemination of their work. Since 1996, Ada X has been a place of reference for engaged and critical media arts practices.

We are looking for proposals that encourage reflections on the interdependence between digital arts, equity, and community dynamics to highlight interventions that contribute to a more empathetic, inclusive, and resilient society. Through this approach, Ada X supports projects that value the role(s) of technology in strengthening collaboration, mutual recognition. Priority is given to proposals inspired by (cyber)feminism, queer studies, Afrofuturism, and anti-oppressive practices.

Four artists’ proposals will be selected. The Ada X team will meet each artist whose project is selected to determine the timeline for completion and production.
