Take Heed tunes in to how different individuals experience mental distress and neurodivergence. Interacting via an Internet of Things (IoT) network, the cocoon-vests visually represent an emotional dialogue between the wearers, using senses often left out in traditional storytelling mediums.

This artist talk will cover elements of the development of the wearable including the technical design of the built-in hybrid circuits, garment construction, and interactivity. It will also introduce general aspects of wearables design, from hybrid circuit development, to setting up a wireless IoT network to transfer data, the challenges of adapting a sewing pattern to house a custom circuit and kinetic parts, and the development of an algorithm that activates the built-in circuit according to established behavioral states detected by the sensors.
