Over the summer, the “Allo Ada on Holiday!” project reached out to young people enrolled in neighborhood day camps, giving them the opportunity to learn about digital art through hands-on experience while meeting professional and emerging artists and learning about their artistic processes.

Together with artists Marian Godbout, Simone Lucas Klodawa, and Marion Schneider, the team of art educators Stéphanie Lagueux and Noémie Carrier met with young people from CALM (Centre des Arts et des Langues de Montréal), Camp Sablon, and Maison d’Aurore. We: populated a digital aquarium by imagining the perspective of a fish in its artificial environment; given shape and color to smells to install them in a replica of a park in Poland; and built conductive devices to listen to a collective performance with plants.

All of these projects—and many more—can be found on Allo Ada, a virtual space for discovery, engagement, and interaction with artists created by Ada X. The educational activities offered through the platform bring each artist’s world to a wider audience in a format tailored to their specific context, combining virtual tours with hands-on digital art workshops. The workshops cover artistic and digital techniques such as sculpture and 3D modeling, composition and animation, storytelling, and sound design. Participants’ creations are then uploaded to the platform to be archived, shared, and viewed as part of an interactive exhibition.

This project is made possible thanks to financial support from the Government of Quebec and the City of Montreal as part of the Montreal Cultural Development Agreement.
