Studio XX invites you to discover all the projects produced in the workshops of Media art for families, activities that took place from January to May 2017 !
Guided by Montreal-based artists, the Media art for families initiative brings together children and their parents to have fun programming and designing with electronic technologies. Together families create electronic art!
These creative workshops offer children and adults a chance to discover the back end of media art. Together with the invited artist, they learn and share their knowledge based on a principles of equality in participation; everyone has skills and can be creative. These workshops are designed to bring families together in a playful environment where they can at once, learn from some of artists Studio XX supports, and explore their own creative process in the electronic arts milieu. The activity was free, and participants were encourage to share a snack !

LIGHT WITH JOSÉE BROUILLARD
Participants have explored the phenomena affecting the propagation of light through a circuit where a light-emitting diode is switched on and modulated. They have created a DIY project where light is the main actor.
MUSÉE DES ONDES WITH ÉMILIE MOUCHOUS
At the Musée des Ondes Berliner, participants have visited the current exhibition Montreal in Space. They have learned to manipulate radios and solar boxes.
3D PRINTER WITH SIMON GREFFARD AND RAPHAËL DEMERS – Fab Lab du PEC
Participants have been invited to explore the different possibilities for 3D printing by subverting the primary function of a 3D printer, so instead of producing a 3D plastic object, they have produced something two-dimensional.
KINETIC ART WITH ALICE JARRY
With the aid of motors, Arduinos and various reflective materials, participants have been led to make small kinetic sculptures and explore the light and sound potential of these objects
VIDEO INSTALLATION WITH OLIVIA MCGILCHRIST
In this workshop, participants have experimented with video mapping on 3D shapes and multi-screen video installations with poetry evocative of the theme of water.
BIOART WITH SARAH CHOUKAH, WHITEFEATHER AND TRISTAN MATHESON
Participants have built mazes using the live and colourful unicellular organism Physarum polycephalum as part of a collective bioart project.
This project receives financial support from the Ministry of Culture and Communications and the City of Montreal as part of the Agreement on the cultural development of Montreal .
